I thought the i-series couldnt handle a dual setup, only some of the higher end xeons. Hence no dual mobo's for i7's.

just out of curiosity.. do you file bug reports?
    i'm pretty guilty of not...

I used to do it - quite a bit actually. But except for one security bug I filed all of the others pretty much got ignored - that was a big disincentive.

You have to copy the file created by Handbrake, which does not show up as DVD even on the MacBook Air. Just make sure you share the folder where the file Handbrake created is located and then you should be able to browse to that folder on your MacBook Air.

Apple should just roll their own.

They have the power, the talent, the size, and certainly the scale, to go their own way with an excellent chance of success.

The more things they do in-house, the better. It'll only enhance the Apple ecosystem and grow it.

Is this always the best approach? Unless Apple intends to invent something beyond the wheel, why just invent the wheel all over again? The duplication of effort doesnt sound very cost effective. And for good or ill, we do operate in a Neo-Liberal economy where its most cost effective to source services and products from others. All the same I can understand the Google thing, but I dont think the articles distance itself from Google language is the best choice of words. Reduce dependency on Google would be more accurate. Anyway, I would have to think that Apples plan is to move beyond the wheel. I wonder what that will look like?

Why is there no option "No, it is ugly" ? Because that would be the correct answer.

It would be great if Final Cut Pro got updated. At the moment, Adobe Premiere Pro is quite a lot better and has a more modern interface, which is kind of strange, as FCP is the industry standard.

WRONG! FCP is definitely not the industry standard. It gained a lot of traction in market share from Avid but has since regressed its gains over the last several years.

Google Maps is the gold standard, but Apple has been known to overthrow standards :)

That's the right kind of thinking, and should be the default thinking going in to any conversation about Apple's ideas.

Work for Gimp. And if they do, at what extent. I know it can't replace it guys, but I'm not too big on graphic design and wanted to delve a little in it first.

I wonder how many of these posts are trolls? I haven't had any issues whatsoever with 4.3.1. I also didn't have any problems with 4.3; battery life has been absolutely stellar and call performance actually improved in 4.3.1.

Battery life was atrocious for me on 4.3, but 4.3.1 completely fixed it. I get the "Call Failed" message sometimes too, but only about 5% of the time.

It is seeming more and more likely that enhanced interrogation techniques (a.k.a. torture), provided information that allowed the U.S. to kill O.B.L.

I recall many on this forum criticizing these techniques claiming they never provided useful information.

    What say you now??

Personally, I was in favor of using these methods on prisoners that were known terrorists, such as K.S.M.

    Similar thing for the areodynamics.

    really ?
    looking at _production_ cars:
Toyota Prius from 2009: drag coefficient: 0.25

    Tatra 77a from 1935: 0.21
    Rumpler Tropfenwagen from 1921: 0.28

the late 30ties were actually the high point in aerodynamics being the focus in automobile manufacturing: there are countless of other examples from the time which simply never made it into production because of the war:
like the BMW K1 prototype which also achieved a value of 0.23 despite being a full 4 door saloon

another interesting car: the Fiat Turbina prototype: which had a coefficient of 0.14 (a record for 30 years) but any further development shelved because of problems with the expieremental fuel gazzling overheating turbine engine ;)

Just opened up Google to find a happy birthday icon... It's hard to believe that they've only been around for 7 years! I remember being introduced to this brand new search engine just after it launched and trying to convince others to try it rather than altavista...
